Dirt Track Diaries Vol 5: Brian Mady- "Driven to Overcome: His Journey from Cancer to Championships"

Hi there my name is Brian Mady I'm from Hawley PA and I will be running at Afton motorsports park in the modified division. My racing addiction started when I was 15 and my brother and myself were crew members on a big block mod team at the orange county fair speedway.

I then moved to 600 mods as an owner driver and had good success in that division winning Rookie of the Year, a championship and lots of wins. I then challenged myself and moved to a crate sportsman were I also won Rookie of the Year and finished second in points my first year!

The next season I got second in points but the 3rd year, I won the championship at Thunder Mountain Speedway. I moved up to open sportsman where I won the first 5 races and ended the year with 7 wins and another title. Now I run what I dreamed of my whole life! I run a modified full time at Afton and have a win under my belt but I want that championship lol.

In the middle of that I was diagnosed with cancer and fought that battle for 4 years, but never lost my drive for the sport. Racing is everything to me because I have seen the ugly side of life and it can change in a minute. Enjoy every single second you have with friends and family and live life to the fullest.
